You have just completed your plagiarism check and received the result. Now what? Being informed is not enough. You still have more work to do. It would be disappointing to get a failing grade on your essay because of plagiarism after a plagiarism check.

Plagiarism Check Showed A Rate Of 5% Or More?

Did your plagiarism check show a plagiarism rate of less than 5%? If so, you are probably good to go. However, if your plagiarism check showed a rate of 5% or more, you should consider making some changes to your paper.

In the United States, most universities use the “Fair Use Guidelines for Educational Multimedia” developed during the 1998 Conference for Fair Use (CONFU) as a guideline. In part, these guidelines state, “Up to 10% or 1000 words, whichever is less, in the aggregate of a copyrighted work consisting of text material may be reproduced”. In other words, original writing must not contain more than 10% or 1,000 words of another author’s text. Our plagiarism check software is tuned to these numbers. However, we recommend you do not exceed 5%. If your report, essay, or paper resulted in a plagiarism number of 5% or more, follow the tips below to make corrections to your paper.

#1. Find The Biggest Plagiarized Parts In Your Text

You should check your paper for plagiarism again just to make sure that all instances of plagiarism have been removed. It usually takes up to 3 plagiarism checks to clear all issues.

To view only the plagiarized (underlined) text in your paper, choose the “plagiarized text only” option. These biggest plagiarized parts should be completely removed or rewritten in your own words with an appropriate citation. This is the best option to solve the plagiarism problem in your document.

#2. Quote The Short Plagiarized Parts

Quote all unquoted short text parts and cite them properly. Our plagiarism check software will help you with this issue by marking those parts and showing the source those quotes were taken from. Do not forget to place links to the original sources or specify the author you are citing according to the required guidelines.

#3. Check Your Paper Again

Don’t forget this step. You should check your paper for plagiarism again just to make sure that all instances of plagiarism have been removed. It usually takes up to 3 plagiarism checks to clear all issues.

#4. Submit your paper

That’s it. After your plagiarism check is successfully completed and your paper is corrected, you can proudly and safely submit your paper to your instructor. Good luck.
